Okay, anyone will say I am not a total dog lover.  But everyone also knows once you get a dog and the dog fits into your family and loves the kids you start to become a “your dog lover”....  (not sure there is such an expression but you know what I mean)

Anyways, here is Max being loved by Jessi!  This is a few years back when Jessi use to wear shirts with sweet little frogs, now you don’t see such things on her shirts.  Anyways, I was thinking about how a dog makes your family feel more like a family.  I’m not saying it doesn’t come with it’s share of responsibilities but your dog seems to take on your family's disposition.  Well Max sure did but we use to have another dog, Trixie, not so true for her...

Trixie was everything that drove a mom of 4 young kids CRAZY!  We bought Trixie for the girls when they turned 7 (boys were 3) and from the moment on she decided that tormenting me was what she was called to do...  Yeah, took me forever to potty train her, she chewed every shoe I owned, she stole every pacifier we owned (which was good because Peter needed to give them up anyway) and she barked all the time!  Oh yeah she also ran out the door and down the street EVERY single time I opened the door (should have given me the clue she was not satisfied with her life).  One time she almost was hit by the school bus that was in the neighborhood.  The entire experience gives me a sick feeling even now.  Anyway, shortly after we moved into our new house she hurt her back and it was not able to be fixed and she had to be put down.

It was a sad decision because my girls cried a river of tears but that very day we went out and found another puppy.  This time I knew what to look for.  That is how Max came into our life.  He is every bit the opposite of Trixie! Picking the right dog for your family is a small thing but has Big effects!!!  One day I hope to get a dog for Peter that will help him feel more independent but for now Max is good being an only dog (is that an expression?)...
